Beaver Creek Village Experience, Oktoberfest At Beaver Creek

Three days of Bavarian fun await during the 20th Annual Beaver Creek Oktoberfest, Aug. 30-Sept. 1, 2019. New this year, families can kick-start their Oktoberfest celebration on Friday with a Biergarten featuring authentic German beer, Oktoberfest-style local craft beer, root beer, pretzel toss, authentic Bavarian food, and live music. The event hosts live musical acts throughout each day, stein-hoisting competitions, Bavarian costume contests, and a 5K, 10K and Family Fun 1K race on Sunday. The beer garden and live music events are free to enter and will be a foot-stompin' oom-pah-pah musical good time in Beaver Creek’s Bavarian-inspired Village.

This year’s live music features the returning Trachtenkapelle from Beaver Creek’s sister city of Lech-Zürs, Austria and the Helmut Fricker Band during each day of the festival. Evenings welcome the sounds of bluegrass and rock n’ roll, with Billy Strings performing on Friday, Aug. 30 at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, Space Oddity: The David Bowie Experience on Saturday, Aug. 31 and Fleetwood Mask on Sunday, Sept. 1. Saturday and Sunday’s shows are free and will take place from 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in Beaver Creek Village. For Billy Strings ticketing information, visit vilarpac.org/event/billy-strings.

The Beaver Creek Oktoberfest Shuffle on Sunday, Sept. 1 is the best way to earn your beer and brat: sign up for the 10k, 5k or 1k family race and energize your morning while supporting the Vail Valley Charitable Fund. All race participants will receive a complimentary post-race soft drink or beer and a bratwurst, provided by Beaver Creek. The first 200 paid and registered participants will receive a commemorative Oktoberfest item. To pre-register for the event, visit www.beavercreek.com/oktoberfest.

Don’t miss other Bavarian festivities throughout the weekend like the Pretzel Toss, Stein Hoisting Competition and Bratwurst Eating Contest—where brave participants compete for the title of “Best of the Wurst”. For this year’s Best Dressed Contest, impress the judges visiting from our sister-city, Lech-Zürs, Austria in your best Oktoberfest costume. For more details and information on how to register for these events, visit www.beavercreek.com/oktoberfest.

The Kids’ Zone will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, located one level above the Plaza and offering arts & crafts, face painting and activities designed for kids ages 12 and under. The Haus of Games sponsored by Bonfire Brewing will be open on Saturdays and Sundays and will feature Hammerschlagen and other games geared toward guests 21 and older.
